Voter Turnout Difficult to Predict in Taylor County

By: Laura Kellerman
Updated: May 3, 2011
More than 300 people have voted early in Taylor County.

Early voting for the May 14 election kicked off Monday, when 125 people cast their votes.  Another 181 had voted today by 4 p.m.

Taylor County Elections Administrator Kristi Allyn said it will be difficult to gauge what sort of turnout this election will have.

Abilenians are voting only in a mayoral race, between incumbent Norm Archibald and Tea Party challenger Patricia Hippely.

Merkel voters are electing a mayor and two city council members.  Tuscola has a city council seat up for grabs, as well as a proposition to reauthorize the current .25% street maintenance sales tax. Jim Ned and Trent ISDs are electing school board trustees.
