Early voting is now over and more than 1,800 Taylor County residents turned out to cast their ballot before this Saturday's election.
Abilenians are voting only in a mayoral race, between incumbent Norm Archibald and Tea Party challenger Patricia Hippely.
Merkel voters are electing a mayor and two city council members. Tuscola has a city council seat up for grabs, as well as a proposition to reauthorize the current .25% street maintenance sales tax. Jim Ned and Trent ISDs are electing school board trustees.
At the end of early voting in 2007, nearly 1,700 residents made their way to the polls before election day. In 2009 more than 2,100 people voted early .
Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 14th.
