UPDATE: Archibald Re-Elected as Abilene Mayor

By: Laura Kellerman
Updated: May 14, 2011
With final results now available, Norm Archibald has won the race for Abilene Mayor.

Archibald will serve a third term in office, after receiving 75 percent of the vote over Tea Party challenger Patricia Hippely. Archibald collected 2,266 votes to Hippely's 766

Archibald said he has spent the last seven years making the city progressive and "a city of choice" and wants to continue working to move things forward for another three years.

Hippely made her final decision to run for mayor at the last minute, filing just before the deadline, but said her decision was not made in haste, and that she felt the incumbent needed to be challenged.

Archibald announced his intentions to run for reelection in January.  He is a Vice President at Hendrick Hospital. He and his wife, Nancy, have two children.
