Businesses across the Big Country and the nation are very green conscious these days.

Folks are around their homes as well.

Every week we talk about ways to "go green" in the Big Country. Here at KTAB, we do our own part to be kinder to the environment.

One thing we use a great amount of every day is paper. From printing scripts to receiving press releases. Luckily, this paper does not go to waste.

We work with the City of Abilene to recycle and they come pick up our paper every week.

"We come every week to pick up the recycling, not only here but at other businesses and we pick up at schools also," said Juan Garcia with the City of Abilene.

By having drivers go around town to pick up recycled materials, more can be reused than if companies and schools had to make trips to the recycling center themselves.

The hope is that by making recycling a necessity, we will teach younger generations how to be kind to our planet.

"We do that which is good to pass on to our children to make it even better as they carry on the torch. They can even take the process further. I know that within the last 10-15 years, recycling has grown even more than it was back then," said Garcia.
