Investigators Still Awaiting Results from Evidence Seized in Hailey Dunn Case

Law enforcement says it's waiting on results from evidence before taking the next step in the investigation into the disappearance of missing Colorado City 13-year-old Hailey Dunn. Dunn vanished from her home on December 27, 2010.

"Basically we are waiting on evidence which was taken up at Dunn to come back from the Dallas computer lab," Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs told the Colorado City Record.

Law enforcement took computer equipment from a Dunn residence earlier this year. Items seized were shipped to the Dallas FBI lab for testing.

The Dunn residence was where the only named suspect in the case, Shawn Adkins, had been staying. Adkins is the boyfriend of Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn. The two broke up shortly after Hailey disappeared. In an interview with KRBC's Brittany Pelletz in May, Billie said she still loved Adkins.

As the criminal investigation continues, law enforcement is also working to find additional evidence or clues into Hailey's disappearance.

"We're still doing some searching in different places, mostly in Scurry County," Toombs told the Colorado City Record. Toombs added searches are also being conducted in Howard and Mitchell Counties.

Despite a dwindling number of searchers, volunteers were back out Saturday morning trying to find clues of their own.

A faithful group of volunteers continues to meet each Saturday at 9 a.m. at 153 Walnut to keep search efforts alive.

"We've pretty much got the majority of Mitchell and Scurry County," Kristi Lloyd told the Colorado City Record. "We're trying to hit some of Howard County." "We're constantly making calls throughout the week and go back over the maps to see if there is anywhere we missed or could go back over and look," said Turner.
