Cross Plains' 13th Annual Barbarian Festival

By: Josh Berry
Updated: June 11, 2011
Cross Plains held it's 13th Annual Barbarian Festival...no worries though, barbarians were not present.

Under the shade of trees at Treadway Park people gathered to celebrate the creator of Conan the Barbarian.

Vendors and entertainment like the Texas Tornadoes and the Cross Plains Centennial Singers performed for guests who took part in face-painting, games and rides.

Some of the main attractions included an antique and classic car show along with an antique tractor show. The festival was free and included prize drawings benefitting a local scholarship fund.

Robert E. Howard, the creator of Conan the Barbarian, lived in Cross Plains for most of his life.
