The Abilene High Eagles make a trip to San Antonio for the 3rd year in a row. This time Steve Warren's Eagles are headed to Heroes Stadium for a matchup with Harlingen. The Eagles are 2 and oh in San Antonio games with a victory in the state championship game in 2009, and a win over Belton in 2010 to start the season. This year, the Eagles take on the top team in the Valley. Harlingen advanced to the 3rd round of the playoffs in 2010 and quarterback Kevin Ledesma is back under center. Ledesma threw for 34-hundred yards and had a hand in 47 touchdowns.

The Class 2A match up between Ballinger and Wall is another good matchup in Week 3. Both teams are picked to go to the playoffs this season. Wall won the game between the Hawks and Bearcats in 2010. Wall used 2 touchdowns in the 4th quarter to pull away for a 35 to 14 victory. Ballinger has 9 starters filled with starters from a playoff team that went 5 and 1 in district play in 2010. Wall has 10 starters back this year. The Hawks advanced to the Regional finals and finished the year with a 12 and 2 record.

A pair of district favorites get together in Class A in week 3. The Albany Lions make the trip west to Hamlin to take on the Pied Pipers. Albany won the game between these 2 last year, 31 to 15 in Albany. The Lions enter the year ranked 9th in Class A Division 1. Coach Denney Faith's team is picked to win District 4 over Stamford with just 9 starters coming back. Hamlin is ranked 10th in the state in Class A Division 2 to start 2011. Head coach Russell Lucas needs a quarterback to step up, but 13 positions are filled with starters.
