You can also lower the thermostat on your water heater.
"The problem with the old tank water heater is that there not energy efficient," said Darrin Black with Black Plumbing.
They are the third largest household energy expense, and not all of that energy is used properly.
"The old tank top heaters have about a 70 percent efficiency rating," said Black.
Taking money out of your pocket and wasting a lot of energy. But now there is a solution to this problem; tankless and hybrid water heaters.
"You go to a tankless water heater and you get an 80-82% efficiency with the hybrid heaters you get 98," said Black.
Instead of constantly heating water stored in a tank, these machines recirculate heat.
"So essentially what your doing is heating up the water as it passes through," said Black.
And you never have to worry about taking a cold shower again.
"You have hot water on demand and you will never run out of hot water. Your carbon footprint is smaller and you use less energy."
