Ashley Furniture Reopens Doors

By: Alex Hayes
Updated: August 23, 2011
Ashley Furniture on Southwest Drive opened its doors for the second time in Abilene this weekend after briefly closing in late November.

Thanks to tax-free weekend, representatives say the store was crowded as doors reopened.

So far Ashley has not advertised any sales to promote the reopening, but say people have been coming out in droves to check out the new merchandise.

"You know we opened the doors, didn't advertise or anything at all and it just felt like we opened the flood gates," said Executive Vice President Sam Estrada. "We're just really excited about being here in Abilene and the turnout was awesome. We're not quite ready to grand open...we're going to get accustomed to things around here and stuff before we launch our initial promotion."

Employees say response from customers has been overwhelmingly positive and they are looking forward to the grand opening.
