The shores of Lake Clyde will soon be home to the largest permanent outdoor stage in Texas.

"This will be the place to be in West Texas," said Mayor Hawk.

The complex will not only play host to large outdoor concerts but smaller corporate retreats and banquets as well.

"It's a one-of-a-kind even outside the state," says Mark Powell of Backporch Productions.

The 75,000 square foot stage and surrounding grounds have a maximum capacity of 40,000 people.

"It would be one of the biggest structures for an outdoor concert there is," said Powell.

With a stage of that magnitude, the Big Country could recruit top acts from the country music billboards

"You're talking about the top ten current guys that we're trying to attract," said Powell.

In addition to spotlighting big-name musical talents, the complex would be an opportunity for Clyde to showcase their community.

"People are taking notice of Clyde, and I think this is another example of what we're doing to make it a great place to live," said Mayor Dustin Hawk.

But with construction and renovations costing upwards of $2 million, Backporch Productions says everyone in the Big Country will play a part.

When completed the Backporch of Texas stage will certainly be one Clyde and the Big Country can all be proud of.

"People are already proud of Clyde America, but this will really help with showing other people," said Mayor Hawk.

Construction on the massive complex is expected to be completed by mid-January, the first concert to be held will be the Wild West Fest in late October.

I hate to be critical of anyone, when I don't know if a freelance writer wrote this article but, Lake Clyde,Texas, and the city of Clyde should be capitalized. Sorry. Everyone learned that in grade school.
