Ashley Furniture Reopens After Abrupt Closing

By: Katie Thompson
Updated: September 11, 2011
Ashley furniture opened their doors today after abruptly closing down last year.

The new store showed their spirit with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held by the Abilene Chamber of Commerce.

The furniture store's new management has tried to give the atmosphere a facelift in an effort to repair last year's abrupt closing.

"Anytime you can open a new store it's special," says Vice President Rick Martinez. "But, you know, something like this where maybe someone has had an experience or taste of something else and we have to come in and do it our way, you know it's special to us because then we can truly show the people how different we are."

The new owner also expressed her gratitude for the support of Abilene residents.
