West Texas Fair and Rodeo Begins with Thursday "Sneak-A-Peek"

One of the most anticipated events in the Big Country, the West Texas Fair and Rodeo, begins tonight with a "Sneak-A-Peak" event for fair goers who just can't wait for Friday's official opening.

Beginning at 5 p.m., folks will receive free entry to the midway and get the chance to take a spin on this year's rides. Armbands that allow people to take unlimited rides will be on sale for $20. Concession stands will be open but exhibits won't open their doors until tomorrow.

The 9-day long fair and rodeo features family fun and great food along with a nightly rodeo, livestock exhibits, music, and other great entertainment.

On Saturday morning, the West Texas Fair and Rodeo parade will takeover downtown Abilene. For those wanting to take part, the parade route is as follows: the underpass North on Pine to N. 6th, West one block to Cypress. South on Cypress to First, East on First to Pine back under the underpass.

Sunday, September 11, 2:00 pm - Hot Rod Tractor Pull
Sunday, September 11, 7:30 pm & 9:00 pm - Ruben Ramos & The Mexican Revolution
Monday-Tuesday, September 12-13, 7:30 pm - Karaoke
Wednesday, September 14, 7:30 pm & 9:00 pm, Counterclockwise Band
Thursday, September 15, 7:30 pm - Karaoke
Friday, September 16, 7:30 pm & 9:00 pm - Kyle Bennett
Saturday, September 17, 9:00 pm - Kyle Park

General admission prices are: Adults: $7 Friday, Sept. 9 - Thursday, Sept. 15, $10 Friday, Sept. 16 & Saturday, Sept. 17. Students K-college: $4. Under age 5: Free.
