This new technology is not just saving people from worry its also saving energy. In an effort to find new ways to save energy and cut costs, Taylor Electric introduced the Ecobee, a smart thermostat.
"We, at Taylor Electric, are very excited." Said Ryan Holmes, Manager of Community Affairs at Taylor Electric.
This thermostat gives the forecast, controls lighting, details the house's conditions, and even lets you plan energy settings for your vacation, all in an effort to conserve energy.
"We are going to use smart grid technology to prevent rolling blackouts by shaving our peak consumption when that happens," said Kelly Thompson, Director of Communication for Taylor Electric.
And yes, there's an app for that. With the help of the Ecobee, you can control your home's settings from your phone.
"You're going to be able to control your house," said Holmes.
Taylor Electric hopes the easy access to the thermostat will help cut back on energy use, especially during peak hours; a green effort finally possible through technology.
"The technology has advanced over the past couple of years," said Thompson.
Taylor Electric is in the initial stages of the project. The thermostats will be given to 500 customers to see if they can make an impact on the grid.
