Dyess Cuts Ribbon on New Reserve Facility

By: Katie Thompson
Updated: September 8, 2011
Dyess Air Force Base celebrated the opening of the Armed Forces Reserve Center today.

The center is unique to the base in that it will house both the Army Reserve, the Army National Guard, as well as engineer teams and recruiters for both.

The facility will be used by 250-300 personnel on a full time and reserve basis.

Guest speaker General Lester Simpson of the Texas Army National Guard says having both of these reserves working as a team with the active forces is a great concept.

"This will give us an opportunity to work with the Air Force and see how they do business, work with the U.S. Army Reserve and see how they do business, and also do our own missions," says General Simpson.

The new building comes after a larger realignment of base facilities across the United States.
