Students concentrate on their work while enjoying the company of friends and fellow artists.  Many state that not only is china painting beautiful but it is also therapeutic.

Pieces are available for viewing which include subject matter from floral works to portraiture.

The group will also have an exhibit of their work open for public viewing which will continue through September 9th, opening at 9:00am each day at the Hampton Inn of Brownwood.

The current president of the CPTT is Millie Sayers of Abilene, Texas, and the program chairman is Sylvia Herring of Santa Anna, Texas.

China painting is an art form that dates back to ancient times.  The paints used for china painting are mineral based in a powered form and  are mixed with a facilitator that is typically oil based and of a very high quality.  The paint is then applied with a brush to a piece of china or porcelain that has been glazed.  When this piece is put into a kiln and fired at high temperatures, the glaze softens, the oil is burned away and the minerals remain. The glaze is then cooled and seals the color resulting in a permanent design on a glazed surface that cannot be washed off.
