Going Green: Find Natural Food at the Farmer's Market

The farmers market has been a main stay in Abilene for years and it
offers fresh produce grown locally.
Right across from Texas frontier in Abilene, farmers lay out their freshest, but this year's drought has been tough on the farmers.
"If you don't have enough water you just got to cut it off," said John Steele, president of the Farmers Market.
That makes it hard to compete with the big chains.
"Sometimes it gets discouraging when you have a year like we had," said John Steele.
But day after day, the farmers set up their tables.
"This is the freshest and I like to keep them in business," said customer Patsy Rogers.
While superstores may have better prices, John thinks he knows what keeps customers coming back.
"They come down here for the freshness, l it usually picked the day before so its about as fresh as you can get it," said Mr. Steele.
