The effort will focus on getting Americans to quit smoking, control blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and eat healthier.
The HHS and other groups are collaborating to prevent one million heart events over a five year period.
The groups will also encourage aspirin use for people at risk of heart attacks.
Walgreens has joined the effort, and will offer free blood pressure screenings and consultations with a pharmacist or nurse practitioner.
