Updated: September 24, 2011
Today military and homeless serving agencies gathered for the Stand Down for Homeless Veterans Resource Service Fair.

Veteran Joe Carter says, "This program helps us, the veterans that don't know about most of the programs they can come here today."

Veterans were able to receive beneficial information regarding resources available to them.

Another veteran, John Castilow, says, "Today I've collected a lot of knowledge as far as how I can educate myself and receive benefits."

Food, clothing, haircuts, showers, and community resources, were all services that were provided free of charge for veterans that visited the fair.

Carter says, "Oh this helps me a lot. I got the things I need."

Veterans say that today's event was extremely educational and helpful.

Carter says agencies provided vital information like, "letting you know what your health care is, dental, your medical."

He says that it makes him happy to know that the agencies that presented their programs today genuinely care about veterans and their well being.

"Whatever your problem is, they're here to help," says Carter

After today's event Castilow feels confident that he now has the tools that he needs to become a more productive member of society.

"I'll be able to establish better goals and succeed in completing my programs with the help of the veterans administration," says Castilow.
