North Trial Set For Next Week

By: Victor Sotelo
Updated: October 4, 2011
There was a fire storm of controversy after what was called a road rage incident at South 14th and Sayles earlier this year.

That's where a sequence of events brought Austin David and Christopher North together, both with guns, and ended with David dead after being shot by North.

The trial will start at the Taylor County courthouse next week and because of all the controversy surrounding the case, special precaution will be taken.

People were very angry when North was not arrested immediately after the shooting and because of that 600 jury summons were sent out to try to get a jury pool of about 70 to 100.

Also, because of the high jury pool the judge in this case has sent a letter to both the prosecution and the defense outlining exactly how jury selection will take place.

Sam Moore, North's attorney said he will supply those 70 to 100 people with identifying makers for jury selection so that they can be easily identified.

Jury selection will take place Tuesday.

There is talk of moving the trial from the fourth floor to the first, into a bigger room because of the large expected crowd.

ACU has requested to bring in some students to watch the trail as well as the general public and media which could make for tight quarters in the court room.
