"We just came off a big celebration of our 61st season," Says Heidi Kelley, the executive director of the Philharmonic, "we're very excited to be the oldest professional orchestra in Abilene and the oldest performing arts organization in Abilene so, we've been around a while."
This weekend's concert is sure to be a crowd pleaser with a special guest from the University of North Texas, Lynn Eustis who has her doctorate in Opera.
For the future, the Philharmonic minds are already swirling around Christmas.
Holly Medlock, the Philharmonic Development Director says this year marks the 4th annual holiday home tour.
"We feature 6 homes in the Abilene area and this year all the homes are in the Fairway Oaks area," says Medlock, "each home is decorated for Christmas and we have live music at each house. It's just a really fun way to get into the Christmas spirit."
The Philharmonic Holiday Home Tour runs from 11am to 5pm and tickets are $20. More information is available on the Abilene Philharmonic Website. Or you can get constant updates on Facebook, just search Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra.
