"From a league perspective, we are very mindful of the role we play in the lives of children," said Anthony Williams, President of the WTYFA said.
They found out their Vice President and one of their coaches was arrested Wednesday. Alan Bailey was arrested on two counts of indecency with a child stemming from an incident in 2003 and one count of sexual assault of a child stemming from an incident in 2006.
"I've known Alan the last three or four years," Williams said.
Williams says as soon as they knew about the arrest, the board members decided to call a meeting.
"We are going to discuss it. Try to get more information and then we will react accordingly," Williams said.
Williams also says they have a strict policy for all the volunteers they work with. He provided KRBC with a copy of their requirements that reads:
"Our policy includes a third-party criminal background check each season for anyone who represents the league and may interact with our participants If the background check for the volunteer comes back with a clean record, the volunteer goes through additional training and mandatory instructional clinics before the season begins.
"If something shows up on the volunteer's criminal background check and is deemed as a safety concern for our kids and other volunteers, the individual is not allowed to participate as a league volunteer."
