Hailey Dunn: Ten Months Later

By: Jessica Reyes
Updated: October 28, 2011
Ten months have passed with no sign of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn.

Search crews swarmed the town early this year, but nearly a year later, hope for Hailey's safe return is dwindling.

The case attracted national attention after the outgoing eighth-grader was reported missing December 27th, 2010.

In the following weeks and months, law enforcement and search groups spent countless hours looking for the teen. Now, most of the searches have been called off.

"We're really not much further than we were when we first started. We've postponed the searches right now due to the weather and lack of searchers," said Kristy Lloyd, a volunteer searcher.

Pictures of Hailey's face lined the streets of downtown Colorado City for months after she went missing.  As time goes by, those posters are getting harder and harder to find.

"We still have different things that come up. We continue talking back and forth between each other with the FBI, the Texas Rangers, the district attorney's office, the police department and us," said Patrick Toombs, Mitchell County Sheriff.

Investigators are still following up on leads, but said the chances of finding Hailey alive are slim.

"That is a possibility. Then of course we're looking at the other possibility that she is not out there. That she is not alive," Toombs said.

Hailey's mother Billie Dunn recently moved out of the area. Her boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, remains the only named suspect in the case.
