The Cross Plains Buffaloes are playing in Week 11 for the 1st time in a decade.

The Buffs and 1st year head coach Daniel Purvis beat Forsan on Friday night to clinch 2nd place in district play.

They are back in the playoffs, and the players and the coaches are glad to put off playing basketball for another week, or so.

Cody Self says, "It's cool, everyone around the community is going up to you and shaking your hand and telling you they are proud. It's been real special, everyones really excited about it."

Justin Pope added, "You can tell from the past years that people just, Cross plains wasn't big in football, because of the losing records but now people are getting excited and it's just great."

"We're down to about 16 playing, and I think it's kind of that mentality: Us against the world." Coach Purvis added, "They really take pride in it and they really love to go out and fight for eachother every Friday night."

The Buffaloes are headed to Burleson in the 1st round of the playoffs. They will take on Chilton in a game that starts at 7:30.
