The damage may have been even more than he could have initially imagined.
Logan says, "The doctors pretty much wanted me to cope with the fact that she would never play piano again."
Which was devastating news for the pianist who relies so much on the use of her arms.
After undergoing surgery to prevent arm amputation and receiving treatment for head trauma, Laura Logan was moved from the Intensive Care Unit to regular treatment.
The Logan's have two young children one of whom did not take the news so easily.
Logan says, "My daughter, I have been able to explain to her, this is what happened, this is what we're going to do, mama's going to be okay, and this is what we have to expect. My son seeing his mom in the hospital has been a little more emotional for him."
The support the family has received from all over the Big Country has been overwhelming.
"Without the constant flood of thoughts and prayers and letters and phone calls and emails, those concerns we would feel a little more alienated," Logan explains.
As for now, Laura is recovering very well.
Logan explains, "Her body is healing fast. She's been able to get up, move around, and get out of bed."
And she refuses to let her injury stop her from doing things she normally would do.
Logan says, "She's blogging with one hand. So it takes her a little while to complete her blog."
Nevertheless, the family seems to be taking one step at a time and they are in high hopes of what the future holds.
"We're very optimistic and we're being able to continue life and wait for the next chapter to open up and begin this new adventure together," Logan says.
