With construction projects wrapping up at Jackson Elementary and Abilene High School, it looks like another elementary school will now be on the "renovation block." Bonham Elementary is the next school up for renovation here in the Abilene Independent School District.

Renovations will start with the roofing process. The school will be re-roofed. When students return to the school in the fall, there will be new heating and air conditioning units. Bonham will also see addition renovations to door hardware and outside entrances. Painting and panel patching will also take place on the outer surface of the school.

Originally the May bond election called for a new construction at Bonham which included additional classrooms. However, due to the failure of the bond, the school will just receive $3.1 million dollars in renovations.

Due to getting a late start on the project, the district plans to start renovations right away. Bonham Elementary students are currently being housed at Jefferson Middle School on South 14th Street due to the needed construction.
