Volunteers from six different agencies, including police and firefighters, helped with the search. They spent several hours Monday afternoon combing every inch of Siebert Elementary School in Eastland. A DPS trooper finally found the snake under a closet in the classroom where the child was bitten.
"We are now going to continue with our plan. We have a cleanup crew coming out to go through the entire building, to clean areas that might need some extra cleaning," said Siebert Elementary School principal Mary Jones.
Students at Siebert have been relocated to the First Baptist Church in Eastland.
"It's been a good opportunity to provide the resources, so that the school could give them kids some safety," Shawn Brewer, with First Baptist Church said.
The kids will continue to have classes at the church through the Thanksgiving holiday, giving crews time to clean the building. They don't expect to find anything else during the cleaning process.
"We think this was an isolated incident, but we just want to make sure. That's why we are here, to go through everything. We got nine days to get it all done," Jones said.
