"I'm just taking it one day at a time," says Abilene Christian University student, Jason Iris.

Today marks the eleventh day since Iris was involved in the tragic bus wreck killing one student and injuring several others.

Iris explains, "Everybody was sitting on the bus, chatting and talking. Everybody was really excited about the trip."

ACU Agriculture students were on their way to Medina, TX for mission work at a children's home, when the unexpected happened.

"I looked up to see what was happening and I see us going off the road," explains Iris.

Senior, Jason Iris recalls what he can remember happening that day.

"I just remembered waking up on the side of the road in a ditch," says Iris.

Iris continues, "Anna Watson, she was lying down, she had like a big cut on her leg. Professor Miller was sitting behind the bus and he was bleeding a lot from his head. I saw his wife sitting next to him, she wasn't moving or anything. Then there was the bus that was completely demolished."

Victims walked away with various ailments, but Iris managed to leave the scene with road rash on his thigh, gash above his eye, and a bruise on his forehead.

"I wasn't excited about getting back to class but I know it is a responsibility that I have so I'm just trying to get back into it because I know I need to," says Iris.

Iris says it has been a challenge to walk back through these doors at ACU's Agriculture Building

With the continuous support of the ACU community and his friends he's been able to positively deal with the reality of what happened.

"It's been really touching and it truly helped a lot to get through the situation. I just ask that they continue to pray for everybody involved and that they continue to love on us," Iris says.
