There is a new, small book out now by a local author which takes away some of the mystery.
Diedra Holley hails from Abilene and has always lead an environmentally friendly life.
"You didn't leave a bottle on the ground in a park you picked up trash," said Abilene author Diedra Holley.
While many people try and go green, Diedra literally wrote the book on it.
Holley said, "After 300 hundred explanations I thought I'm just going to write this down."
The end product, Going Green Without Going Broke.
One hundred and six pages of one time and everyday tasks that can make a difference to the environment.
"Those things were chosen because they were not much extra work," said Holley.
She is not a professional and she thinks that's whats makes her book easy to understand
"If you have someone who has done the things in the book and is living this life and says hey this is easy stuff," said Holley.
Going Green Without Going Broke is available at Hastings, but can be ordered at other stores.
Author Diedra Holley ordered "print on demand" to save paper.
