The family of an Abilene businessman accused of hiring a hitman to kill someone says it has no comment about the allegation.

The story came out Thursday in the trial of Eddie Joe Sutton, who was convicted in Jones County of the 2004 murder of Michael Bates.

Prosecutors say Sutton claimed to have been hired by George Gibson to kill Bates.

Owner of Gibson motors George Gibson died when a train slammed into his car a few months ago.

Police still haven't ruled on the cause of that accident.

Sutton was sentenced to life in prison.
