Over 200 Students Play in Ensemble

Over 200 students came together Saturday to make some noise.

Students performed duets and ensembles with other students and their teachers at the Woodward-Dellis Recital Hall on the campus of Hardin-Simmons University.

The event lasted from 9 AM to 9 PM.

The Abilene Music Teachers Association (AMTA) puts the event together each year and said it is an excellent opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned.

"A lot of times if you're a piano student, you're just playing by yourself. But the ensemble is a different kind of opportunity. And it's kind of less nerve racking and more fun," said Alice Welch with the AMTA.

The next event the Music Teachers Association will host will be in Spring of 2012.
