The Big Country continues to come through in a big way at this year's Share Your Christmas food drive benefiting the Food Bank of West Central Texas.

This afternoon we are inching closer to 300,000 pounds, leaving a day and a half to overtake the 2009 record of 460,000 pounds.

So come out to United Supermarkets on South 14th and Willis tonight to enjoy the live musical stylings of Modern Gentlemen starting at 7:00. Bring your non-perishable food item or cash donation and say hello to KRBC personalities.

KRBC's "Share Your Christmas" expands from its usual one-day format to span three full days. This year, the event takes place outside the United Supermarket at 3301 South 14th Street in Abilene.

People are asked to stop by sometime between 6 a.m. Wednesday and 6 p.m. Friday and make a donation of non-perishable food or cash during this critical time for the food bank.

The Food Bank of West Central Texas can stretch your dollars to ensure Big Country residents don't go hungry this holiday season. For every $10 donation, the food bank provides enough food for 45 meals.

To kick start this year's 3-day event with style, United Supermarket donated $20,000 to the food bank. The $20,000 represents the 20 years the company has been in Abilene.

"Support of the food banks in our area is a natural partnership for our company, and we are grateful to the Food Bank of West Central Texas for all of the great work it does to feed the hungry in the Abilene area," said Mark Yowell, regional vice president of United Supermarkets LLC.

KRBC is hoping to receive record donations during this year's event. In 2009, SYC set a record with 460,000 pounds in donations.

KRBC is excited to welcome some great musical acts to Share Your Christmas this year!

First, Kirk House Band will play on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and Modern Gentlemen will play Thursday also at 7:00 p.m. You'll also have the chance to meet your favorite KRBC personalities including Megan Dobbs, Mike Cole, Maxine Ridling, and John Nolan.
