UPDATE: DPS Identifies Fatal Brown County Crash Victim

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released new details regarding the fatal accident in Brown County early Wednesday morning.

DPS officials say 39-year-old Melissa Jane Prosise was pronounced dead at the scene this morning after colliding with a Dodge pickup driven by James Dalton Stevens of Brownwood.

According to the report, at 5:45 a.m. Prosise was driving eastbound on Farm Road 586 and was struck by the southbound pickup after failing to yield the right-of-way at the US 377 intersection.

Prosise was wearing a seat belt.

She was taken to Heartland Funeral Home in Brownwood.
