Does It Work: Solar Powered Christmas Lights

By: John Nolan

It's certainly beginning to look and feel a lot like Christmas, and while many have already decked the halls and houses with an array of holiday cheer, some may just now be getting into the festivities.

So why not celebrate with a cost-effective and dazzling display that can wind up saving you money?  The Phillips Solar powered L-E-D Christmas lights let mother nature do all the work.  Completely powered by solar energy, the lights are to turn on and off automatically, without adding to your electric bill.  So I tried it out in the back lot.

First things first.  Place the solar panel facing South or Southwest in order to receive the most amount of sun possible in any given day.  It's best to steer clear of any trees, walls, or artificial lights which could affect the solar charging.

Switch the product form "off" to "auto" and, that's it.  The solar panel will charge the lights throughout the day.

Dusk falls, and, sure enough, the lights turn on, and remain on, for a number of hours.

So if you're a last minute holiday decorator looking to save this season, you may want these sun powered illuminators on your wish list.
