A local resident was convicted of theft over $20,000.00 but less than $100,000.00 from elderly individual. On May 19, 2011 the Stephens County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from a Possum Kingdom Lake resident Mary Hobbs who reported a theft at her residence.
The victim reported all toll a $108,000.00 worth of jewelry items being stolen from her residence. Sheriff Dan R. Young said his Office began an investigation that led Deputies to several out of town pawn shops and interviewing several people.
The investigation led to the identification and recovery of several stolen jewelry items. During the investigation Deputies were able to identify Talissa Valerie Lee as being the person involved in the theft.
Last Thursday Talissa Valerie Lee pleaded guilty in 90th District Court to the charge. As part of the guilty plea Talissa Lee was sentenced to 12 years in Texas Department of Criminal Justice, assessed $90,000.00 in restitution and $639.00 Court Cost. Sheriff Young said that because of jurisdictional issues the investigation is still ongoing in another County.
"I feel that Department's investigation will lead to other arrests and possible recovery of more stolen items," said Young.
