Central Texas Rural Transit District (CTRTD)/ City and Rural Rides (CARR) announced Wednesday that a new multi-modal transportation facility will be coming soon to Brown County and will be located at 1031 Early Blvd, the current location of Heartland Skateway. CTRTD held a public meeting on Wednesday at the Early Chamber of Commerce to make the announcement.

The new facility will be utilized by many public transit providers that will all interact regularly with Brown County and will provide transportation options locally and to destinations outside the area.

"CTRTD is pleased to be able to help this become a reality that will not only benefit Brown County, but individuals from many counties throughout Texas," CTRTD said in a written statement.

The project purchase and renovations are to be funded with a federal grant received through the Texas Department of Transportation.

The statement said that the project is scheduled to begin in early 2012 and will be a multi-year project.
