Undercover Officers Help Bust Stephens Co. Drug Dealers

Law enforcement officers in Stephens County are rounding-up suspects after a year-long investigation on illegal drug trafficking in the Breckenridge area.

The officers have warrants authorizing them to arrest dozens of suspects.

A grand jury has indicted 50 people with a total of 108 criminal charges involving drugs and organized crime within Stephens County.

Sheriff Dan Young said his department started a surveillance investigation after a February 2010 arrest of suspects on Hubbard Lake for manufacturing methamphetamine.

According to the Sheriff's office, once the operation began, undercover officers from the West Central Texas Inter-local Crime Task Force began making purchases of narcotics in Stephens County and within the city limits of Breckenridge. As a result of this tactic's success, the number of suspects began to increase significantly.

The sheriff says the investigation was successful and he thanks all of the law enforcement agencies that contributed to the arrests.
