Paramount's Texas Twist On The Popular "A Christmas Carol" Story

By: Natalie Ferrari
Updated: December 19, 2011
This evening marked the last showing of the familiar "A Christmas Carol" story, but with a Texas twist.

The Paramount Theatre on Cypress street presented their first annual "A Texas Christmas Carol" here in Abilene. This performance may seem familiar as it was formerly known as "The West Texas Christmas Carol" for many years, but has since been revised. Many residents from across the area still attended the show to see what is was all about.

The Executive Director of the Paramount Theatre, Betty Hukill says,"It's written by the Paramount's Artistic Director Barry Bmoot, and it's the story of Eb Scrooge who lives in Dickens, Texas, during the
Depression. So it's the same story with all of the ghosts that come and see him in the middle of the night to try to change him and make him aware of what a horrible person he's been."

The Theatre plans to present this play for the future years to come.
