Wylie High Students Sing And Act In "Oklahoma!"

Updated: December 19, 2011
While the last day of school is right around the corner for many high school students, some Wylie High students are showing off their strong vocals through theater.

The Wylie Sigh school theater and choir departments gave a performance called "Oklahoma!" to many of their family members and classmates. The students involved in the play ranged from freshmen all the way to seniors, and for many, this was their first year participating in a musical.

"This is a joined production with the Wylie High school theater and the choir departments. This is "Oklahoma" which is a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. This was written back in the 40's and really changed musical theater," said Chris Shoemake, Wylie High school's Theater Director.

In the future, the departments plan to alternate between at least one musical and one Christmas show every other year.
