What happened to Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn is a question investigators have tried to answer for a year.

"Just because the investigators are not making ourselves very visual doesn't mean that this case has slowed down by any means," said investigator Kelsey Alexander of the Colorado City Police Department.

Alexander took the call when Hailey was reported missing on December 28, 2010. The case has stayed on her mind ever since.

"There's not days that go by here that we don't talk about the case or revisit an aspect of the case," she said.

Hailey's story has attracted national attention over the past year, and search groups from around the country have scoured Mitchell, Scurry, and Howard counties.

"Makes you feel sick, knowing that so many people have put in so much of their time and effort and that nobody could come up with anything. It makes you sick," said Kristy Lloyd, who works with volunteer search group Hope for Hailey.

Both of Hailey's parents have had their share of legal issues. Her father, Clint Dunn, has been arrested multiple times on unrelated charges. Billie Dunn was arrested in March for drug possession and hindering apprehension.

Affidavits revealing pornography was found at the homes of both Billie Dunn and Adkins' mother were released in February. Authorities have said the images include child porn and bestiality. To date, no charges have been filed.

Hailey's disappearance has also been the source of countless rumors in and around Colorado City.

"Frustration, at times, comes from the people that try to interject themselves into the investigation. Or the rumors, the hearsay," Alexander said.

That frustration aside, Alexander said the case is far from being put on the back burner.

"There's nothing that goes unanswered. And there will be answers for everybody. For everybody involved," she said.

Hailey's mother's boyfriend, Shawn Adkins, remains the only named person of interest in the case.
