The publication reports the incident occurred off County Road 309 and FM 219 near Purves. Purves is just southeast of Dublin. Law enforcement arrived to find the child and man dead near their home.
"It was reported that at about 2:30 p.m. Jose Antonio Torres, 35, went home and became enraged when his 15-year-old daughter was not home taking care of her child," Sheriff Tommy Bryant told the Empire Tribune. "He didn't believe his daughter was taking care of the child the way she should, and he was very angry she was not home at the time."
Authorities say Jose Torres took the child, drove away from the home, allegedly shot the boy and then turned the gun on himself.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsies, Bryant told the paper.
