Roofing Contractors Top BBB List of Business Complaints

The Easter Sunday hail storm of 2011 created a down pour of questions to BBB from home owners about the reliability of out of town and local roofers. All of those new roofs caused a few complaints along the way as well.
Roofing Contractors topped the list of the most asked about industries in 2011. Roofers were asked about at a 3-1 ratio as the next type of business general contractors. The storm caused thousands of insurance claims and some disputes along the way. Roofing contractors also topped the list as the most complained about industry too.
Other customers had complaints about their landlords, cars and furniture purchases. Apartment complexes were the 2nd most complained about business.
Furniture stores, auto repair services, body shops, and hotels came in as number 3, 4 and 5 respectively.
In 2011, Big Country consumers were asking about the reputations of general contractors and air conditioning, another industry driven by weather due to last year's record heat. People needed to repair automobiles because of hail damage and asked about body shops or they were in the used car market, because used car dealers were the 5th most likely business asked about in 2011.
In 2011, BBB processed a total of 270 complaints. Totals for the entire year include over 54,000 business reviews on local businesses.
