Going Green: Shabby Chic Old Furniture

As furniture grows old and outdated, most of us throw it away to sit in a landfill Old furniture accounts for 8.8 million tons of America's waste. but now one store right here in Abilene is offering these pieces a new chance at life.
"We focus mainly on wood furniture, that's what we do." Said Darelyn Keim of The Furniture Junk It.
The Furniture Junk on South 1st street is like extreme makeover for furniture. They take old unused furniture and shabby chic it.
"Which is we paint it color of your choice, so its gives people the option ." Said Darelyn Keim
But they dont just give old furntiure a new paint job, they can change the entire use of an old piece.
"Where a dresser may only seem like a dresser; take out the drawers, shelf it, and there you have an entertainment system." Said Darelyn Keim
They don't restore old pieces to their natural state but they say the antiquity is what makes these pieces such a great canvas.
"If there are scratches on it, if there are dents, that just adds to what we do." Said Darelyn Keim
The possibilities are endless and the results amazing
