A child placement trial has been set for the 4-year-old boy who was abandoned on Interstate 20 in Sweetwater last June.

Angel Flores was found covered in cactus needles after his father, Carlos Rico, allegedly choked him and left him on the side of Interstate 20.

Angel was initially placed under the care of child protective services, then given to a foster family.

Angel is still in foster care, but a trial has been set for May 21 of this year to decide his final placement.
