The National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature in Abilene features a different artist every month in their gallery.
This month is dedicated to the famous children's illustrator, Ed Young.
Since Ed Young is a collage artist, children worked on making collages of their own, along with their parents.
The book selected this month is a sort of autobiographical story of Ed Young's childhood during the war in China.
The purpose of featuring artists is to allow children to create works of art similar to the style and story of the specific artist.
