UPDATE: Woman in Stable Condition After Being Shot by Husband

A Sweetwater woman was shot in the leg by her husband on Monday evening.
According to Sweetwater Chief of Police Jim Kelley, a call was received about shots fired on the 800 block of East New Mexico Street in Sweetwater around 8:20 p.m.
When police arrived, the victim was found down in the front lawn with a gunshot wound to her leg.
Sweetwater emergency personnel made a landing zone and called a helicopter to transport the victim.
The victim's husband, 52-year-old Terry Wayne Davison was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
"There was an indication the he fired several rounds from a 9 millimeter handgun. Today we are trying to determine what precipitated this event," Chief Kelley added.
The victim was flown to Hendrick Medical Center in stable condition.
