Obama Administration Taking Steps To Get Veterans Jobs

By: Bob Bartlett
Updated: January 18, 2012
According to the veterans administration more than 13 percent of those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan are currently unemployed

The Obama administration is taking steps to get service members working again, offering tax credits to employers who hire veterans and hosting job fairs.

Veterans who don't find a match with an employer at the fairs are getting one on one career counseling and help building their resumes.

The VA has a new website designed to get veterans to explain their military experience, in a way that impresses civilian managers.

"The little side skills that I have I can't really translate that over, because it wasn't my primary focus," said veteran Brian Harley.

The VA is planning to hold veterans job fairs from coast to coast in the months ahead.
