Texas Unemployment Rate Lowest Since July '09, Abilene sees Slight Drop

The Abilene unemployment rate dropped slightly last month, but the Texas Workforce Commission reports that the number of people working did not change.
There were 74,300 people working in Abilene in December, the same number that were working in November.
The total civilian labor force dropped by 100 workers, and there were 4800 people here listed as unemployed.
The November unemployement rate was 6.2 percent, but that was based on the Texas Workforce Commission estimate that there were about 100 more people in the job market in November.
