Separation Deals Reached with Snyder Administrators

By: Snyder Daily News
Updated: January 20, 2012
Following a 40-minute executive session Thursday night, Snyder school trustees voted to extend separation agreements to two administrators -- Karen Saunders and John Derek Hollingsworth.

Saunders was the first principal of Snyder Elementary School and the principal at Snyder Academy until Jan. 9 when she was moved to a teaching position at Snyder Junior High School.

Saunders will receive $41,640.54 which represents the full amount of her salary due for the current school year.

Hollingsworth was an assistant principal at SJHS until he was reassigned to a teaching position at the school on Jan. 9. He will receive $37,781.03, which is the amount remaining on his contract for this school year.

The agreements with both employees state that "differences have arisen between them and the school district that makes it in the best interest of both parties to end the relationship prior to the end of the contract term."

The agreements also state that both parties "wish to avoid ... litigation" in agreeing to the terms.

Both will resign immediately with the resignations being irrevocable eight days from the date the agreements are signed.
