Despite what we normally think, the experience of eating out is not just about the food.  From the atmosphere to the artwork on the walls, eating out involves all of the five senses, and there's no restaurant that captures that thought better than Bonterra Blu in Clyde, TX.

For Joel Trueblood, changing up the atmosphere and artwork at his restaurant is just plain common sense.

"That would be boring if you came in every single time and it was the same art."

In fact, the many sculptures, paintings, and metal workings seen around Bonterra Blu are constantly changing.

"That's part of the excitement of coming here," says Trueblood. "If you come here every two or three months, you walk in and it's almost like walking into a new restaurant."

The ever changing artwork on the walls of Bonterra Blu has been a part of the concept from the very beginning. Their motto, "life, food, wine, and art."  For local artist, it comes as a blessing, and an outlet for their creative expression.

"We support local artists, we support local businesses," says Trueblood. "It brings an aesthetic to the restaurant that's unique."

For Trueblood, supporting the arts is a concept he holds close to his heart.

"I'm an artist, so it just makes sense that I would support other artists."

From paintings, to murals, even metal work, Bonterra Blu is filled with art that spans multiple artists and mediums.

"That's been really fun to just watch these guys come out of the woodwork," says Trueblood.

Even the wine racks are creations from a local blacksmith, Dan Cockran, a third generation blacksmith for over thirty years.

"It was the perfect fit," explains Trueblood. "He makes our wine racks, our candle holders, he makes all kinds of stuff."

Because Bonterra Blu is known for such a quick turnaround with their art, Trueblood encourages local artists from all over the Big Country who might be interested in having their work displayed, to contact him.

"As our reputation grows, I think the art community will start to recognize, it's a legitimate place to go and look at art, and buy art."
