Brownwood Mayor Hosts State of the City Luncheon

By: Bob Bartlett
Updated: January 22, 2012
The luncheon was a way for concerned residents to get an idea of where the mayor and the city stand on issues like the economy, retail, and the budget.

The drought and how it's effecting the city is the main concern in the area and one of the topics addressed by Mayor Stephen Haynes.

"We're looking at the lake levels at 38 percent and being out of water in 18 months. Which is frankly a lot longer than some of our other surrounding communities but to us it's a very critical situation. We're going to try to be ahead of the curve and address the situation as best we can," said Mayor Stephen Haynes.

Residents had opportunities to raise concerns or provide suggestions and had their chance to show support on programs like the city's retail initiative.
